Font size: Decrease font Enlarge font

Three state media institutions have been taken to court over charges of misuse of the said institutions for propaganda work of president Mahinda Rajapaksa.

Presidential hopeful of the common opposition Gen. Sarath Fonseka  filed separate fundamental petitions in the Supreme Court against Sri Lanka Rupavahini, ITN and ANCL.

The petitioner alleges the three institutions were biased and supporting president Rajapaksa and tarnishing the images of the rivals.

The three institutions and the general secretary of the UPFA have been cited as respondents in the petitions which seek a court order to the three institutions for impartial election coverage.
