Bogus job agent sent to jail

The Colombo Chief Magistrate today sentenced a bogus job agent to 11 years rigorous imprisonment for cheating 11 foreign job seekers for a sum of Rs.880,000.

 

The Chief Magistrate Champa Janaki Rajaratna also ordered him to repay the monies immediately to the complainants or face a further 11 years in jail.

 

The suspect had collected Rs. 80,000 from each complainant in return to send them overseas for employment.
